[más]The historical bazaar, which once was home to the shoemaker's guild who fabricated the so-called "yemeni" shoes, has been totally restored to give visitors and insight on how a traditional bazaar would have looked and worked like. Within 48 wooden houses you can find, and by, examples of locally handcrafted items.
Shop number 3 is the location of the Ahmet Demirezen Yemenicilik Museum. The museum was founded in 1989 by Ahmet Demirezen, a master handkerchief maker. Here you can find information on how the yemeni shoes were produced and see materials and tools that were, and still are, used to make them.
The market is open daily, the museum can be visited during the weekend.
The bazaar is located in the Old Town of Safranbolu, directly next to the Köprülü Mehmet Paşa Mosque.
Safranbolu, in recognition of its historical and architectural importance, is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
