Hıdırlık Hill is located towards the south of the Old Town of Safranbolu. The hill was one of the first areas in the former caravan station where the
[más]Hıdırlık Hill is located towards the south of the Old Town of Safranbolu. The hill was one of the first areas in the former caravan station where the Turks settled down when they came to the area.
On top of the hill you can find an open-air prayer area where in old days the hıdırellez celebrations (Beginning of the summer, prayers for fruit) and the prayers for rain,especially during a drought, were held. You can also find the mausoleum of Hasan Paşa, the former Governor of Köstendil, and the mausoleum of war hero Ali Yaver Ataman on the hill, as well as the tomb of Hıdır Paşa.
Due to its elevated position the hill offers panoramic views over the whole town.
Hıdırlık Hill is regarded as one of the main attractions in the town which is, due to its historical and architectural importance, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
